Our little home is a wonderful place for our Persian and Himalayan kittens. Of course, moms and new babies are given their privacy and great care, in a special area of the nursery. At first mama wants to spend very little time away from her newborns, but gradually during the unfolding weeks, she like to take breaks and leave her ‘nest.’ As the babies grow, their eyes open, and as they becomes a little more sturdy on their feet, they leave their nesting area and begin to explore the nursery. Soon, mamas and fur-babies are running around the room, climbing on cat trees, chasing toys and each other, and looking out the floor-to-ceiling windows. There is much to see. The wooded backyard is filled with squirrels and birds and they seem just as curious about what’s going on in meow house, as the feline brood is about what’s going on outside!

Babies are, at the appropriate age, given baths and pedicures. We do this, so our sweet-cheeked kittys are used to being clean and having their nails clipped, in order to make it easier for you. All kittens and cats drink only distilled water, with Pawier vitamins and Tylan always included in the water. Along with Royal Canin (kitten, queen and Persian formulas are all used), plain yogurt and pumpkin are offered each week.

are taught all proper kitten-manners. It’s wonderful to see how Mama teaches each one how to use the litter box and how to play fairly. We encourage much snuggling, sweet talking, and even rough housing...so that each kitty is extremely socialized.

At around 4 weeks, we begin to introduce soft kitten food in order to begin the process of weaning. Some are more ready than others, but before each kitten goes to its ‘forever home,’ they are thoroughly weaned and independent.

Once everyone is old enough, the whole place becomes their own meow house. I often join in with games of tag, soccer and kick the ‘can’ (in this case a ball or just a crumpled up piece of paper!) And sometimes, we even turn up the music and wildly dance for hours! meow house is a place of surround-sound purrs and wall-to-wall fur blankets. Oh, we are a contented lot!
